Coquitlam In Blooms Shines a Spotlight on Sports

This year’s Coquitlam in Bloom initiatives will shine a spotlight on community sport – and all the people who help make it happen.Whether you’re a volunteer, player, coach or club executive, the City of Coquitlam will pay tribute to the important roles these members play within the sporting community.  Upcoming Coquitlam in Bloom Spotlight on Sport events and initiatives include:
  • Sports Fairs will give members of the public an opportunity to try out a variety of sports – all in one location. Drop in to play some games, test your skills and to scope out the local sport organizations. The first Sports Fair will take place Saturday, April 7 from 1 – 3 p.m. at Pinetree Community Centre.
  • Those who are involved in sport are invited to attend the Speaker Series, which will discuss community sport trends and issues.
  • Members of the public are encouraged to sign up as a Volunteer Sports Host to help enhance the visitor experience at Town Centre Park.
  • Sport groups can take ownership of a players’ bench, dugout or spectator stand through a new Adopt-a-Bench program. Your group will be recognized with on-site signage in return for keeping the area free of litter and graffiti, while reporting any hazards or signs of vandalism.
  • Take part in Community Sport Volunteer Workshops for topical tips involving everything from recruitment and retention to recognition.
